November 25,2009 - VSMC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PMT and New Solar to cooperate together in developing a number of solar farms in varius locations in Vietnam. Solar farms are power generation plants that generate electricity from sunlight using photovoltaic solar modules to supply power to the local utility grid.

The first solar farm project will be developed in phases. The first phase of project is to develop a solar farm with a preliminary target of 5MW, and a option  to expand in subsequent phases up to preliminary target of 50MW.
